Het Belmundo thema 'recht op actievoeren' staat overal ter wereld onder druk. Ook in Gent, waar het bestuur lange aanvraagtijden en GAS-boetes gebruikt om burgerprotest in de kiem te smoren. 

Dit pikken wij niet langer! We verzamelen op zaterdag 25 maart om 14 u onder de Stadshal om stad Gent vriendelijk te verzoeken GAS-boetes niet langer te misbruiken tegen mensen die hun rechten uitoefenen en om het politiereglement in verband met acties te herzien.

Omdat dit recht overal onder druk staat en we veel kunnen leren van andere groepen, halen we inspiratie bij Latijns-Amerikaanse activisten die we in februari geraadpleegd hebben.

The Belmundo theme 'right to campaign' was not chosen for a reason: this right is under pressure all over the world! This is also the case in Ghent, where the government uses long application times and ‘GAS’ fines to repress citizen protest.

We will no longer accept this: together we will put the theme into practice! We gather under the city hall at 2 p.m. to kindly request the city of Ghent to stop abusing GAS fines against people who exercise their rights and to review the police regulations in connection with actions.

Because this is under pressure everywhere and we can learn a lot from other groups, we take inspiration from Latin American activists we consulted in February. For example, expect Latin American slogans and songs! Hope to see you there!
